Lucky me

How lucky I am to have a set of clients dotted around the foothills. There is nothing better than being able to pull over and fish a little on Bear Creek or Clear Creek for a lunch break!
How handy it is!

North Fork yields some great Trout

So today was blocked off as a fishing day where I could take some time out to get the brain back in gear again....
I was thinking of all the spots to go and I finally decided Deckers. Online the flow looked great.
However, when I got to the river road, woah! brown water..urgh - clarity was terrible. Definitely snow melt or something (but check out the report)
So, I figured it was a lost cause and decided to turn right and head down river and explore the Platte River Road, to where the North Fork joins and then to follow the north fork to Foxton and Buffalo Creek.
What I found was a North Fork that was very fishable - much clearer waters!
So, with the sun out, and mostly no wind, I managed to catch 6 great trout including 2 mature browns that really were fighters.
Aaahhh - I feel so much better now!

So, thanks to my Son who is now 12 (going on 15.. )who wants Dad to listen to the local rap / hip-hop radio stations as we drive to scouts and swimming.... its with great surprise really that I am fining out that there really is good music around!! I thought good music stopped in the 80s..? (oops what an admission)
Anyway - here's my favs :>

Lilly Allen
La Roux - well i think she is from 1987 personally - just watch the music video.. 1987..surely?

October Skiing - yea!

After 2 days of heavy snow this week at home (2.5 feet in our deck!) today was amazing sunshine so I decided that "today was the day" for October skiing - finally!
With one lift open, there was a bit of queue - around 30 minutes to the lift and I was told that was pretty good - the average was around an hour (!)

Fishing for the BIG one at Clear Creek

The day after my Birthday - Daniel and I went up to Clear Creek to see if we could catch a few with Nymphs. We were using bead head prince nymphs which were just what the brown trout wanted.

We found a great stretch where the river splits around an island and few people ever get to. There were some nice areas in the riffles and at the end where they joined together again.

This was Daniel's first time nymphing and he caught a brown trout, but then I was pleased as punch when he caught a 12.5 inch rainbow on a red copper john!
